Topping Off Ceremony

On November 4, 2019, students from Irma Marsh Middle School were invited by BTC, our construction company, to participate in what is known as a “topping off” ceremony. A topping off ceremony is a builders tradition to celebrate the placing of the last beam in a new construction build. It was time for the last beam to be placed in our new Fine Arts wing, so students, administration, our superintendent, BTC Construction, WRA architects, and veteran teachers who have spent many years at IMMS all came together to sign the beam!

After we signed the beam, we were able (with our hard hats!) to go inside of the new addition on the 6th grade wing and watch as the crane placed the last beam into our new Fine Arts wing. We were all enthralled watching this exciting event take place. We were equally excited to see the beautiful new inside of some of our STEAM labs that will be unveiled to the rest of the school soon.

We were very honored to have been invited to participate in this historic event. All of IMMS cannot wait to experience the new spaces that BTC construction has worked tirelessly to build and WRA architects has designed so carefully with students in mind.
